We love eating at the canteen, along with our friends.

In France and amongst our neighbors, the importance of "eating together" has its roots in the school canteen. The Magasins généraux have decided to make this the theme of their new release, in collaboration with Phamily First. Presenting "Cantine générale", the first pop-cultural work which deals with the subject of the "canteen" in all its forms.

Since moving to Pantin, BETC has decided to push the limits of creation once again by investing the domain of cuisine, with BETC Kitchen and the Magasins généraux canteen.

In redefining the boundaries of the (corporate) canteen, this project has given way to an innovative space where employees meet up as much to enjoy some cake, drink coffee, and chat as they do to work or skim a book. A place where meetings take place and ideas are fused. Where lunch hour gives way to a real restaurant with unrivaled service and innovative operations, radically transforming the experience of the canteen and bringing it closer to that of a restaurant, and beyond.

Under the direction of Jean Pierre Bourhis (Director of BETC Kitchen) and Delphine Suarez (Resident Chef), the ambition is twofold: offer cuisine that’s organic, local, and homemade, and invite young chefs aspiring to open their restaurants or just getting started in the industry.

It’s along this commitment that the Magasins généraux (center of creation founded by BETC, developing cultural content in all forms since 2016) decided to partner with the food agency Phamily First to publish Cantine générale. The 1st pop-cultural book which deals with the subject of the canteen in all its forms and how it accompanies us throughout our lives.  It revolves around several thematic chapters, taking the form of a “cantinological tree”.

From "kiddo" to "future" to "employee", amongst politicians, truckers or even digital-food-lovers ... It’s in the variety of its users that the diversity of a Canteen becomes a true social subject. In short, it’s a true “cantinomic” trend that the book aims to decipher.

3,2,1 ... The bell rings, it’s 12 o'clock. It's time to sit down at your favorite canteen table. And you, are you a flan guzzler or a warrior in the mash potato battle?
